Blotters on chicagocrime.org

Written by Adrian Holovaty on March 23, 2006

I've added another data source to chicagocrime.org. Thanks to help from the Chicago Journal newspaper, the site now displays synopses of selected crimes.

The new blotter page lists all crimes that have synopses, and each crime that has a synopsis will display it on its crime page (example). There's also an RSS feed for the blotters.

If I were the type to coin words, I'd call it a multimashup.

I would have gone with "monstermashup". But hey, it's your site. :)

Seriously, it looks great. Keep up the great work, man.

This is a huge improvement - it adds so much extra flavour to the site. It helps that some of the synopses are pretty funny: "The victim, feeling that the bathroom was not the place for fisticuffs, alerted officials who placed Gutierrez into custody."

These make them seem more real. Apperently the writers have a bit of fun sometimes: http://www.chicagocrime.org/2005/dec/14/6pm/hl789512/

I don't suppose you could do a similar site for Washington DC?
